Weather on the Antalya coast in winter is hard to predict. Sometimes meteorologists can’t even accurately forecast the next day’s weather, let alone make long-term predictions for months ahead. So if you’re planning a winter vacation, it’s best to stay flexible and go with the flow. The weather is very unpredictable.
📌 December
In my experience, December is usually quite mild, with comfortable temperatures around +15 to +18°C (59–64°F). There is little rain. The year 2018 was an exception — it rained almost all month.
Clothing: Light jackets, sweaters, and layers work best.
Activities: Sightseeing, city tours, and visiting museums are great options.
📌 January
Usually the coldest and rainiest month. But the rain comes in periods: 2–3 days of rain, then good weather. Average temperatures range from +13 to +16°C (55–61°F). January 2019 was atypical — about 90% of the days were rainy, plus there was a strong hurricane with a tornado.
Clothing: Waterproof jackets and boots are recommended. Warm layers are essential.
Activities: Indoor activities like visiting galleries, shopping, and enjoying cozy cafes are ideal.
📌 February
Spring is on the way, temperatures gradually rise and can reach up to +19°C (66°F). Rain is still possible but less frequent.
Clothing: Layers and light rain gear.
Activities: Nature walks, early spring flower spotting, and light outdoor activities.
📌 March
Spring is more noticeable, and everything starts to bloom. Daytime temperatures can climb to +22°C (72°F), but nights remain chilly.
Clothing: Light jackets, long sleeves, and layers for evenings.
Activities: Visiting parks, botanical gardens, and exploring outdoor markets.
📌 April
Spring is in full swing. Orange trees and mimosa are blooming everywhere. Rainy days are rare and easy to count on one hand. Daytime temperatures can reach +25°C (77°F). Sea temperatures are around +20 to +21°C (68–70°F).
Clothing: Light clothes, dresses, and t-shirts during the day; a light jacket for evenings.
Activities: Beach walks, hiking, and early swimming for brave souls.
📌 May
Early May is not quite summer yet. The weather can be unstable, with possible rain and cloudy days. Air temperatures can reach +30°C (86°F), but the sea warms up more slowly — water temperatures are about +22 to +23°C (72–73°F). By the end of May, the sea usually warms up to a comfortable +25°C (77°F).
Clothing: Summer clothes, swimwear, and a light sweater for cooler evenings.
Activities: Swimming, sunbathing, boat trips, and outdoor dining.
If you plan your wardrobe and activities with these tips in mind, you’ll be ready to enjoy the beautiful Antalya coast any time of the year!
